As Day 1c comes to a close, we'll be wrapping up PokerNews' Borgata Summer Poker Open highlights blog for the evening.

There's still plenty of poker left to play across the room, though.
In the $600 Deep Stack Kick Off, 33 Day 1c survivors have bagged and will join those who've already advanced from the opening flights as the tournament continues to build toward Sunday's Day 2.

Across the room, Day 1d is continuing to attract a healthy field, with 233 entries on the board as players take their final shot of the day at building a stack.

Meanwhile, the $650 One Shot Freezeout is edging ever closer to the money, with the top seven finishers set to get paid, while the evening's $250 Super Stack Turbo has drawn 52 entries, with 13 players remaining heading into the business end of the night.

The clock shows 209 entrants in Day 1D of the $600 Deep Stack Kick Off at the start of Level 11, with two more levels of late registration available to players.

Elsewhere in the room, the $650 "One Shot" Freezout is down to its final table, as 9 players remain approaching the money bubble.

Cutler Hits 1 Million Chips as Bubble Bursts

Joe Cutler became the first player to hit the 1,000,000 chip mark in Day 1C of the Deep Stack Kick Off after he downed a player to burst the money bubble.

On the stone bubble with 53 players remaining, the cutoff raised before Cutler made it 50,000 from the button. The blinds got out of the way to put the action back on the cutoff, who jammed for 314,000.

Cutler went deep into the tank, mulling over his options for over a minute. Cutler asked the table for one more minute, and after he made up his mind, he put in calling chips to set up the biggest pot of the day.

It was a coin flip, and one that Cutler would win as he made a full house on the J♠10♥5♠5♣J♣ runout to put field into the money. The remaining players have guaranteed themselves at least $1,200 and are now looking to be one of the 33 players who make it through to Sunday's Day 2.

One Shot Freezeout Surpasses Guarantee, 19 Remain

The $650 "One Shot" Freezeout is moving through Level 9, with 19 of 52 entries still in contention.

The event comfortably surpassed its $25,000 guarantee, generating a $29,900 prize pool, with seven players set to make the money. The eventual champion will take home $10,610, while a min-cash is worth $1,575.

Blinds are currently 500/1,500 with a 1,500 big blind ante, and the average stack sits at 82,105 chips. With fewer than 20 players remaining and just seven paid spots, the pressure is beginning to ramp up as the field inches closer to the money bubble.

There are 65 players remaining in Day 1c of the $600 Deep Stack Kick Off, and the money bubble moved a step closer after Joe Kent sent another player to the rail.

Kent raised from early position, and saw the action fold to the button who moved all-in for around 90,000. Kent briefly thought over, and called as the slightly bigger stack.

Kent was miles ahead with Q♥Q♦, and needed to hold against 10♥10♠.

The A♥K♦Q♣ flop improved Kent to a set of queens, but the button picked up two more outs as they had a straight draw. The 5♠ turn was a brick, and the K♥ river filled Kent up to scoop the nice-sized pot.

Saker Alatrach Leads Day 1c as Late Registration Closes

Late registration has officially closed in Day 1c of the $600 Deep Stack Kick Off ($1,000,000 Guaranteed), with the field growing to 410 entries.

Sitting atop the chip counts at the break is Saker Alatrach, who holds the chip lead with around 445,000, overtaking Shad Murphy (374,000) in the final level of the registration period.

"I've just been fighting through it, brother," he told PokerNews. "It was really interesting. I busted three times at the beginning, but I got lucky, made the right calls, and got there."

"I doubled my stack with kings over there," he said. "Sometimes you just have to make the right decisions."

A regular on the East Coast circuit, Alatrach says he's always happy to be back in Atlantic City.

"I love the Borgata," he said. "It's competitive here."

Away from the tables, Alatrach runs a mechanical contracting company, balancing business with his passion for the game.

"I'm an entrepreneur. I own a mechanical company, but I've been playing poker and gambling for a long time. I treat it as a sport and try to enjoy it. It's been a challenge, but I'm very happy."

The $650 One Shot Freezeout has attracted 41 entries so far and is down to 31 players, with late registration remaining open until the start of Level 10.

Meanwhile, Day 1d of the Deep Stack Kick Off is also underway. The evening flight has already reached 79 entries as play begins Level 3, with plenty of time still remaining for players to jump into the final Friday starting flight.
