Vittorio "Victor" Abbate's run in the $2,700 Summer Poker Open Championship has come to an end just shy of the money.
The local entrepreneur, who owns his own bakery, earned his seat into the Championship through a charity tournament, turning a freeroll opportunity into a Day 2 appearance.
Unfortunately for Abbate, his run ended before the 71 paid places.
Speaking with PokerNews after his elimination, Abbate said he got his chips in after flopping a queen-high flush, only to discover he was drawing dead against Jason Sellers, who had flopped a straight flush.
