A Wise Check by Akgul; Ionita Rips it in

Level 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Huseyin Akgul
Huseyin Akgul

Huseyin Akgul raised to 85,000 from middle position, and Mihai Trofim three-bet to 315,000 from the small blind. Akgul called.

Trofim fired 100,000 on the 8QA flop, and Akgul called.

A board-pairing Q on the turn prompted Trofim to check-call after Akgul bet 225,000.

The 9 river checked through, and Trofim tabled the second nuts with AA for a full house to win the pot.

At a nearby table, Ruslan Volkov raised to 80,000 from early position, and Maksim Shornikau three-bet to 225,000 from the next seat. Stefan-Sebastian Ionita, in the big blind, used a time bank before cold four-bet jamming for 1,315,000.

Volkov quickly got out of the way, but Shornikau agonized over the decision for some time. More than 90 seconds later, he eventually folded, surrendering the pot to Ionita.

King-high Wins it For Gromov

Level 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

From under the gun, Dmitry Gromov raised to 80,000, and only Georges Ghossan called from the big blind.

Ghossan check-called Gromov's continuation-bet of 55,000 on the A42 flop before both players checked the 6 turn and the 8 river.

Ghossan tabled 103 for a missed wheel draw, and Gromov revealed KJ to win the pot with king-high.

Bugra Yeral

Bora Kurtulus raised to 80,000 from middle position, and Bugra Yeral jammed for 200,000 from the big blind. Kurtulus snap-called.

Bugra Yeral: 1010 All in
Bora Kurtulus: AA

Kurtulus had the preflop nuts, and Yeral needed a ten to survive, but he failed to find one on the 96476 runout.

The two shook hands, and Yeral wished the table good luck before heading toward the exit doors.

Mondrus's Run Comes to an End

Level 23 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Boris Mondrus
Boris Mondrus

With around 300,000 already in the middle on a board of J42Q, Pavel Shchitnikov jammed from the big blind, putting Boris Mondrus, who was seated in middle position, all in for his remaining 400,000 or so chips.

Mondrus tanked for quite some time before eventually deciding to call, slamming in the chips.

Boris Mondrus: KQ All in
Pavel Shchitnikov: 109

Mondrus had made the correct decision with top pair, as he was ahead of Shchitnikov's huge combo draw.

Unfortunately for Mondrus, the 8 river was one of Shchitnikov's outs, giving him the nut straight and bringing Mondrus' Merit Poker Cup run to an end.

Ionita Hits the River to Bust Sokolovsky

Level 23 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Alexander Sokolovsky
Alexander Sokolovsky

Stefan-Sebastian Ionita raised to 60,000 from the hijack, and Alexander Sokolovsky jammed for around 240,000 from the small blind. Ionita made the call, and the players went to a showdown.

Alexander Sokolovsky: AK All in
Stefan-Sebastian Ionita: QJ

Sokolovsky simply needed Ionita to miss the board for his ace-high to earn him a double-up.

Sokolovsky remained ahead on the 584 flop and the 8 turn. However, the Q was not the paint card he wanted to see, as Ionita improved to a pair of queens to win the pot and send him to the rail.

Mondrus Doubles Through Khadra

Level 23 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Hadi Khadra raised to 60,000 from the cutoff, and Boris Mondrus jammed for 260,000 from the small blind. Khadra mulled it over for a few moments before making the call.

Boris Mondrus: AK All in
Hadi Khadra: A10

Mondrus had the better kicker, and although Khadra picked up a straight draw on the 9JQ flop, nothing materialized on the 9 turn or the 5 river.

Mondrus earned the double-up and climbed to more than half a million chips.
